FAQ's ON A BEAM CENTRAL VACUUM SYSTEM

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions on a Beam Central Vacuum for you to read.

CAN A BEAM CENTRAL VACUUM BE FITTED INTO EXISTING HOMES?

Yes. It
is simple to install in properties of any age or size. The 52mm(2”) pipe uses natural voids within the property for example:
  • within boiler or airing cupboards
  • behind the bath
  • underneath kitchen units
  • underneath floorboards
  • in the loft
  • in basement areas
  • in existing soil-pipe boxing
  • outside

The possibilities are endless. With little mess or costly alterations, the installation can be completed in less than a day. It is so easy, that many people purchase DIY kits. any property using natural voids and spaces and there is no mess, no disturbance and there are no costly alterations. It is so easy, that many people even purchase DIY kits.

How many vacuum points will I require?

On average, one centrally placed vacuum point should cover approximately 900sqft/84m² and as
a result, a typical four-bedroom house would only require one point upstairs and one downstairs.
However, depending on the layout, larger houses will obviously require more points and the system
should be individually designed.

 WHAT ACTIVATES THE BEAM APPLIANCE?

Low voltage wire (safe for kids) runs with the pipework to each inlet and the appliance is activated as soon as the hose is inserted into any vacuum point or when the VacPan is used. Alternatevely, there's a deluxe hose with an on/off switch on its handle allowing you to have remote control.

Where is THE VACUUM APPLIANCE usually installed?

Almost anywhere; although the most common places are:

  • inside a garage
  • in a utility room
  • in an easily accessible loft
  • the basement
  • understairs cupboard
  • vented cupboards

We even have a small “hatbox” size power unit that is powerful enough to cover a normal four bedroom home. It can fit quite comfortably in an un-vented 500mm kitchen unit, with lots of room to spare for a shelf and drawer!

CAN THE VACUUM SYSTEM GET BLOCKAGES?

The Beam central vacuum has a lifetime guarantee against blockages if used under normal conditions:
a sharp 90° bend fitted behind each wall inlet/point, acts as an anti-blocking device, rather like the
u-bend under a sink.  Additionally, the wand and hose are narrower than the pipework, ensuring only
debris smaller than the pipework goes into the system.

What if I decide to move house?

You may either leave the complete vacuum system in place, since it is an added value feature to the property, or alternatively you can take the Beam vacuum appliance, the hose and cleaning attachments with you. The necessary vacuum pipe can then be installed into your new home and you can again enjoy superior cleaning power.

 IS IT EXPENSIVE?

A DIY kit for a typical four-bedroom home can be around £600+vat, so as a whole house built-in system, it is surprisingly inexpensive.

 WHAT ARE THE GUARANTEES?
Every Beam Central Vacuum comes with a Five Star Warranty, which includes:
